Happiness is what really matters most in our life. It is the common treasure that everyone desires. Most people go from place to place in search of happiness, while some find it in small things and in little moments. These few people probably know:
‘Happiness does not come from results of getting something we don’t have, but rather of recognizing and appreciating what we do have.’
There are many secrets to be happy in life. Unfortunately, most people are unaware of it. There is need of an institution or a kind of “Happy Club” where people should be taught how to be happy. The institution does not need teachers, but children. Kids can be the best guide from whom we can learn most about happiness.
One of the distinctions I’ve found in children is that when they start crying, you can make them happy again by distracting them with some kind of toy or by performing an activity.
This is what human beings have lost. We’ve lost the capability to distract ourselves or to get away from the things that are causing us to suffer. A child knows about the many doors of happiness, but we’ve forgotten. Helen Keller, an American author, wrote aptly:
‘When one door of happiness closes, another opens, but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one that has been opened for us.’
How to deal with the struggle?
In these few years, I’ve written many articles, including a book. Almost, every article touched someone deeply.
It would be wrong to say I didn’t struggle while writing. Sometimes, I become so depressed that I spend whole day. even weeks, staring at the blank sheets.
To overcome the writer’s block, I reminded myself of the reward I would get after writing the articles. And this attitude of expecting positive results have always helped me
As the caterpillars try to emerge from the cocoon, fluids from the body get pushed into the wings, making them stronger and able to fly. Without that struggle, it is impossible to fly. This natural phenomenon of transformation of a caterpillar into a butterfly tells why it is necessary for a man to struggle and work hard. So now, the next time you feel giving up remind yourself what you would become if you achieve your aim.
